 Student Reviews Irwin Silbernik is the real deal. Not only is he an excellent teacher and player of guitar and piano, he has the academic credentials and performance experience to back it up. As a teacher, he is patient and flexible, willing to vary his style and approach to meet the needs of his students. As comfortable with Mozart as he is with Muddy Waters, Irwin is a musician's musician. I recommend him without reservation for online and in-person instruction. I like that he teaches them how to read music and encourages them to memorize songs. It's how I learned piano as a little girl and I'm enjoying seeing the boys progress and learn to understand written music. He is the only instructor I found with degrees in both Music and a Masters in Music Education, to say this guy knows his stuff is an understatement. I have had about 5 lessons with Irwin so far and plan to stick with him for years to come. He has taught me so many things already that I wish I knew years ago. He immediately corrected some minor bad habits that have had a major difference in my playing. As he put it, he wants to teach you music as a language, once you know the language you can play with anyone at anytime.
